Workshop on Legal and Institutional Frameworks, and Planning for Disaster Management Several countries in the region have had long years of experience in implementing measures to reduce losses from disasters. However, it has been noted that deficiencies in legal and institutional frameworks are presenting obstacles to the institutionalization of risk reduction efforts. ADPC, with funding support from ECHO and USAID, is holding a regional workshop on legal and institutional frameworks, and planning for disaster management, from 24-26 April 2002 in Bangkok, Thailand. The workshop will provide a venue for sharing of experiences and discussion of issues concerning what is working, what is not working, and how to make it work. The workshop will also provide a venue for networking and establishing linkages among individuals and institutions involved in disaster management in the region. Participants include representatives of national disaster management organizations, partner organizations, and researchers and individuals concerned with legal and institutional frameworks, and planning for disaster management. |
