Disaster Management Information System is
replete with disaster-related information. DMIS is organized and created
by the India Society for Research and Initiatives for Sustainable
Technologies and Institutions (SRISTI). It is a non-governmental
organization set up to strengthen the creativity of grassroots inventors,
innovators and ecopreneurs engaged in conserving biodiversity and

The Gender and Disaster Network is an
educational project initiated by researchers and scholars interested in
gender relations in disaster contexts. The network experts use the
internet to share and communicate their work to a larger audience. On the
site are useful documents and analysis on gender and disaster studies. The
network is open to all interested in contributing to and sharing its

Crowding the Rim (CTR) is a public-private
initiative that addresses the growing consequences of natural hazards in
an increasingly interdependent Pacific Rim community. It has developed
several tools to illustrate natural hazard risk to increasingly populous
and interconnected Pacific Rim countries. These are RimSim, a conflict
negotiation simulation package, HazPac, an interactive GIS map about
natural hazards in the Pacific Rim region, and Education Module, a tool on

Kutch Navnirman Abhiyan is a network of 14
grassroots NGOs founded to respond to the devastating 1998 cyclone. It has
emerged as a network of voluntary organizations in Kutch, India,
undertaking planning, lobbying and training activities to strengthen the
voluntary movement in the district. It worked extensively in relief
operations immediately after the 2001 Gujarat earthquake.

The Pan American Health Organization has put
its publication catalogue online. The catalogue contains details on all
PAHO disaster training materials, which include books, CD-ROMs, slides,
videos and other sources of information including a virtual health library
for disasters and a regional disaster information center.
