Aga Khan Planning and Building Service (AKPBS,P) – Pakistan

Aga Khan Planning and Building Service (AKPBS), Pakistan, an institution of the Aga Khan Development Network (AKDN), incorporated as an independent entity, with the mandate to plan and implement infrastructure and technology related development initiatives. AKPBS, P works to improve the living conditions of disadvantaged people, with reference to their housing needs. Since 1980, AKPBS, P has worked as both a service provider and development organization, assisting communities in various provinces across Pakistan, including Northern Areas, North West Frontier Province, Punjab and Sindh. Program Sectors include: water supply and sanitation, housing, habitat risk reduction, energy efficient building and construction, natural resources conservation, and construction management.

AKPBS, P projects address many of the UN Millennium Development Goals, including eradication of extreme poverty, ensuring environmental sustainability, promoting gender equality, and the empowerment of women, reducing child mortality, and creating global development partnerships. AKPBS, P has demonstrated that improvements to the built environment play a vital role in achieving economic, social and environmental sustainability, the three pillars of sustainable development.
