Dear Readers,

Thank you for the encouraging response to the previous issue of the Asian Disaster Management News. We have received several letters of appreciation and also requests for extra copies of the publication, especially from the affected areas of Gujarat. As a follow-on to the previous issue, we include a special insert on Gujarat with articles by Professor Vinod Sharma and Dr Elaine Enarson.

We are delighted to offer you this issue of the Asian Disaster Management News on tourism and disaster management. In addition to several articles on the subject, we have tried to present pointers to a range of useful information sources.

The next issue will focus on linking community based disaster management with local governance issues. We have also identified themes for the following four issues.
