Governments and NGOs understand that disasters, environment and
climate change related risks are never fully eliminated. Sooner
or later, an at-risk country will be affected and it’s likely
the development process will be impaired. Understanding how to
manage risk through aid spending is paramount to ensure
development progress.
Overseas
Development Institute have partnered with the Australian
government to discover how decision-makers and development
professionals coordinate disaster risk reduction, environment
and climate change adaptation and mitigation (known here as ‘DEC
integration’) in their daily activities. In the following
eight-blog series, we explore the lessons and themes learned
from integration to reduce the affects of disasters on
development.
