Disaster Management Course Curriculum Design
The Disaster Management Course (DMC) is ADPC's flagship course, which is being conducted periodically since 1986. So far twenty-five Disaster Management Courses have been held, which has been attended by almost 700 senior and mid level officials from Government departments, international agencies, UN agencies, NGOs and from private sector.
The curriculum of DMC course is revised at appropriate intervals on the basis of course evaluations and in the light of developments in the field of disaster management. At present the curriculum of DMC course is in the process of review and revision. A curriculum development workshop will be held from May 15-17 at ADPC, which will develop the out line for new course curriculum with the participation of DMC resource persons and the ADPC staff. On the basis of inputs from this workshop a new syllabus will be designed. This new syllabus will be followed in the upcoming Disaster Management Course, the DMC-26 in November this year. It is anticipated that the new curriculum will emphasis more on management aspects and skills and it will have many more simulations and exercises and will have less of lecturing.
