Installation of/ upgrading to real-time sea
level stations in Myanmar, the Philippines,
and Vietnam, in collaboration with the
University of Hawaii and national focal
points, with support from the UN Regional
Tsunami Trust Fund
Establishment of the regional
hydro-meteorological hazard information
center to support national systems in severe
weather forecasting research and
application, with support from the Danish
International Development Agency (Danida).

Completed projects
Preliminary seismic site surveys in Vietnam
(March 2006), the Philippines (April 2006),
and Myanmar (August 2006).
Upgrading of the Chiang Mai seismic station
(CHTO) into real-time broadband station
(January 2006). Data is shared
internationally through the US Geological
Survey’s Albuquerque Seismological
Laboratory
Upgrading of sea level station at Koh Taphao
Noi (October 2005) and establishment of Koh
Miang station (November 2005) in Thailand
under the IOC/GLOSS program, in
collaboration with the University of Hawaii
Sea Level Center and the Royal Thai Navy,
supported by UNDP-Thailand.
