Disaster preparedness training through puppetry |
Teaching children about disaster preparedness is a potentially sensitive endeavour – how to capture the attention of children without alarming them? A partnership between Trocaire, JRS, No Strings, Cordaid and IDEP Foundation, has resulted in a delightful and innovative solution. This group of NGOs has developed a series of short films portraying puppets experiencing various disaster situations, as well as one promoting peace designed for use in conflict areas. The films are expected to be a great hit with both children and adults alike, having had input from Kathy Mullen, one-time principal performer with the popular puppet based TV show The Muppet Show. |
