ADPC successfully concluded the First Inter-regional Training
Course on Public Health and Emergency Management in Asia
and the Pacific (PHEMAP-1). The course was held for 3 weeks
from 4 March up to 22 March 2002. The course was jointly
organized by the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC),
South East Asia and Western Pacific Regional Offices of
the World Health Organization (WHO-SEARO/WPRO) and the Japan
International Corporation of Welfare Services (JICWELS)
as the major funding agency.
Twenty-five participants of PHEMAP-1 come from the following
eleven countries: Bangladesh, Cambodia, Japan, Lao PDR,
Malaysia, Nepal, Papua New Guinea, Philippines, Sri Lanka,
Thailand and Vietnam.
