Natural Disasters and its Preparations

Bangladesh is a country, which faces from the most common natural disaster that is flood and it has a huge impact on business, community and agriculture which should come out with a solution and the improvements till now by the government.

I want to explain and describe below in my point of view. I also took interview from one of the my village people who faced a natural disaster problem and had to sell his house because of it and also would want to inform what our AUW guard has to tell about the steps they are going to take when the flood is not be able to control.

When it comes to business like exports and imports of sugar and sensitive goods, which would immediately damage in contact of water, the importer must be aware of such natural disasters.

Last year in few warehouses there were flood due to heavy rain but due to late weather forecast people did not have a back up plan and a huge loss occurred. I think the people importing sensitive goods should first of all architecture the warehouse high up so that water doesn't reach and the place should be located in a higher hill area. They should also have a close consult with the weather forecast and be updated.

Floods in Bangladesh makes homeless and lot damage to the local people or community. When we see in the last few articles people were crying outside their houses as their whole house goods have been destroyed by the water. Few were also affected by such kinds of diseases like malaria and Typhoid.

In the capital of Dhaka an engineer at the Flood Forecasting and Warning Center told, “Over the next couple of days the flood situation around just Dhaka might further deteriorate”. This means making more than 74,000 people suffer at a time. The government has started to plan the draining systems and water flow facilities but they should start working faster and the work seems to progress very slowly.

The floods not only affect business and community but also agriculture. In recent records more than 40,000 hectares of farmland submerged in 20 districts, mostly to the north. Agriculture is one of the main sources of income in such poor country like Bangladesh and we and the government should try its level best to solve it.

I think the first step should be improving weather forecast and technology in village side, as people can take pre-preparation. Education of preparation for natural disaster like food should be taught.

I just took an interview from one of my village people to go deep inside the book about their suffering and he told me that the weather forecast is always telling them a huge rain storm is coming but they were always false and one day but they stopped taking preparation as they thought it’s the same old news but they were truly affected when it really came down and the farmer’s new crops were washed away.

Their house was broken and their cow died in illness. To give the loan at time they had to sell their own house, as now they are totally homeless. I think this is one if the most important thing the government should over look is weather forecast and make sure village people are warned, as many of them are uneducated.

Taking a short time interview with the security guard of AUW, they told us that as AUW was previously designed high up so that it can prevent flood and drain are all around so unless or until its really bad flood AUW will hopefully not be affected. They also took precautions like draining system and made the offices high so that water doesn’t make any worse damage.

The architecture of the building are very satisfying for natural disasters like flood and the most important documents and things are located at the top floor. All they have to do is carry some goods upstairs from the underground.

Bangladesh is a beautiful small country surrounded by rivers and seas, flood is a common and sometimes very destructive natural disaster. I would want the government to increase the architectural study in this fact and make water flow progress so that future can be safe for us.

Improve the weather forecast and educate people about this disaster. At last but not the least I would want to thank the government to provide 8,000 tones of rice and to announce $385,000 a relief package to those who have lost almost everything and want our government to use all the capability they have.
