The overall progress of the project has been as planned and it is foreseen that the project will clearly contribute towards the aim of Asia IT&C Programme. In the second quarter of the project, the activities were implemented as planned, i.e. submission of the needs assessment report of the four partner universities, adoption of various communication strategies for the project, completion of the short course for the representatives of the four partner universities on GIS and remote sensing for natural hazard and risk assessment at ITC, the Netherlands and submission of their individual reports to ADPC, development of guidelines for joint research program and support for curriculum development in the selected universities and joint research work.
Also an Urban Disaster Mitigation course was organized in collaboration with the Chiang Mai University, at Chiang Mai, Thailand from 9-11th April 2005. International seminar on Landslide Risk Management was organized at Colombo Sri Lanka on the 6th June 2005 and a regional training course for landslide hazard mitigation was organized at Bandarawela, Sri Lanka from 7th-12th June,
under Asian Program for Regional Capacity Enhancement for Landslide Impact Mitigation (RECLAIM) project in which the four partner Universities of CASITA II also participated, as was planned in the project.
