The eighth issue of the CARE Newsletter explores the persisting gender inequality in disasters, their biased impacts and the need for inclusion at all levels to shape better policies and decisions. It takes us through the scale of deforestation and its ecological impact in the forests of Manipur, India and introduces the Bangladesh Delta Plan as a strategic approach to addressing challenges and ensuring sustainable, climate-resilient development in the delta regions. This edition also highlights the importance of investing in climate-resilient rural roads for a safer environment, breaks down key gender-related terminology, and shares updates from CARE’s project sectors.
The "Climate Adaptation and Resilience (CARE) for South Asia" project is supporting the region in building resilience to climate change by improving the availability of regional data and knowledge, developing guidelines, tools, and capacities, as well as promoting climate-resilient decisions, policies and investments across key sectors. The five-year initiative is being jointly implemented by Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) and the Regional Integrated Multi- Hazard Early Warning System for Africa and Asia (RIMES), with support from the World Bank.
