Publication Overview/Description

This Case Study titled "Enhancing Community Readiness to Climate Extremes" details efforts to improve the resilience of Tan My Chanh Commune in My Tho City, Viet Nam, against climate-induced disasters. This case study highlights the initiatives under the "Urban Resilience to Climate Extremes in Southeast Asia (URCE)" program, supported by the Norwegian Agency for Development Cooperation (Norad). It focuses on community readiness through awareness and education, preparedness planning, and enhanced response capabilities. Key interventions included Urban Community-based Disaster Risk Management (CBDRM) training, the development of community hazard maps, and the establishment of Standard Operating Procedures for Impact-based Forecasting and Warning (IbFW). The program also provided essential equipment to bolster emergency response. The collective efforts have significantly strengthened the community's ability to anticipate, respond to, and recover from climate extremes, fostering a resilient and adaptable environment.
