This project is related to the conducting of three-day training course on Advanced Flood Disaster Risk Management, to be organized from November 28-30, 2017 in Bangkok, Thailand for the Officials from the Pasig City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), the Philippines.


VISION

This curriculum has been designed to improve the ability of officials from the Pasig City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO), Philippines to strengthen their knowledge on advance flood disaster risk management so that the risks and damages associated with floods are reduced and more effectively managed.


OBJECTIVES

The key objectives of the three-day training course are:

•To increase the official awareness of and familiarity with flood hazards and its characteristics

•To enhance the official understanding of the hydrology of floods and to recognize the causes and impact of flood from a hydrologic perspective

•To develop the official knowledge and awareness of the best practices on flood forecasting and early warning system

•To show case the application of geospatial data for the development of structural and non-structural mitigation measures

•To provide an knowledge exchange opportunity to official to learn about the major flood control measures in Bangkok


SCOPE AND SEQUENCES

The training is a 1-day full-time workshop + 2 days of knowledge exchange visit to the key agencies in Thailand that are specialized in flood control mitigation measures; namely, Bangkok Metropolitan Authority (BMA), Bangkok Flood Control Center, Phra khanong Pumping Station, Pasak Jolasid Dam, SCADA system and telemering stations, and a visit to Pakkret Municipality.
