Description

As a proactive approach, ADPC has taken the initiative on a regional program for early warning systems to reduce loss of lives and its unfavorable socio-economic consequences with the technical guidance from Norwegian Geotechnical Institute (NGI) OSLO. In order to revitalize a platform for sharing the knowledge gained from the early warnings of landslides between various countries, the project is initiated. The main objective of the project is to foster a national culture where national agencies working on related disaster risk management projects can collaborate effectively.

Key Activities

-Regional seminar of organizations involved in early warning of landslides in Asia.
-Regional Meeting for data collection for identification of critical elements for effective early warning.
-Dissemination workshop for sharing of knowledge gained from participating countries.

Output

-Provide input to early warning platforms in participating countries.
-Exchange of knowledge and experiences.
-Establishment of critical elements (rainfall thresholds and geomaterials) for early warning of landslides.
