Description

The American Red Cross (ARC), in cooperation with the Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC), Thailand, had taken efforts to help the Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) improve response capacities of their staff and volunteers for the benefit of those in need. The main objective of the program was the RCSC disaster management capacity enhancement through a series of trainings and follow-up mentoring provided to trainers attached to National Red Cross Society of China (RCSC) and to ensure sustainability of the program. In order to ensure disaster preparedness and response for RCSC, disaster management capacity in particular Field level National Red Cross Society staff capacities were enhanced through the conduct of series of trainings on general disaster management, Response management, damage and need assessment and community based disaster preparedness referring to earthquake and flood hazards.

Key Activities

-Conduct training on need assessment.
-Develop training curriculum and training material.
-Conduct national level training activities.
-Organize and facilitate subsequent training by National Trainers.
-Monitor and supervise the training by National trainers.
-Help the local team to draw lessons in conducting training.
-Documentation of the project.
