Manila, Philippines - The APMCDRR 2024 under the theme "Surge to 2030: Enhancing ambition in Asia Pacific to accelerate disaster risk reduction" concluded in Manila, Philippines with higher commitment in investments and financing mechanisms in disaster risk reduction. The ADPC delegation with its thirteen senior level managers led by Mr. Hans Guttman, Executive Director represented and contributed to several plenaries and technical sessions.
"Friends of ADPC", a get together of partners and sympathizers was organized on 17 October 2024 to foster partnerships, promote knowledge sharing, and enhance regional collaboration in disaster risk reduction. Mr. Hans Guttman, Executive Director of ADPC, stated, "The Friends of ADPC event brings us together on the table to building a resilient Asia-Pacific region. By collaborating and sharing knowledge, we can better prepare for the challenges posed by natural disasters."
As the conference concluded, the Friends of ADPC agree to continue to advocate for increased investment in disaster preparedness and response initiatives, ensuring that communities across the region are equipped to face future challenges.
Hosted by the Government of the Philippines and UNDRR, APMCDRR 2024 gathered leaders from governments, organizations, academia, and civil society to accelerate disaster risk reduction efforts.
