The ADPC Advisory Council is a
network of eminent individuals and senior
officials from Governments and other
organizations committed to disaster reduction in
Asia and the Pacific. The Council provides
strategic guidance and input in support of
ADPC's vision, mission and institutional growth.
Membership is on the invitation
of the Chairman of the ADPC Board of Trustees in
consultation with the Executive Director for a
period of three years, renewable at the
discretion of the Chairman.
The role of members is to:
-
identify disaster-related
needs of countries and communities in Asia
and the Pacific and assist in identifying
opportunities for ADPC to help meet these
needs.
-
provide guidance to ADPC on
how to achieve its vision and mission.
-
on invitation of the
Executive Director, to review or advise on
relevant portions of the ADPC Strategy, Work
Program or other specific activities.
-
when the opportunity arises,
to visit ADPC for discussions with the
staff.
Because of the global nature of
the Council and the costs involved it is not
currently envisaged that full meetings of the
Council will be held. From time to time,
however, ADPC may convene ad hoc Working Groups
of members in order to seek advice on specific
matters.
