Nirmala works for Preparedness for Response and Recovery Department based in Sri Lanka Office. Previously, Nirmala was part of the Disaster Risk Assessment and Monitoring department and the Urban Disaster Risk Management team. Prior to joining ADPC in 2007, Nirmala worked as district engineer for Reconstruction and development agency (RADA) in three large districts in Sri Lanka. She was responsible for post-tsunami housing reconstruction. Nirmala also has consulting experience in the field of safe building construction. Nirmala holds Bachelor's Degree in civil engineering and an advanced diploma in management accounting from Charted Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), UK.
