This site is an outcome of a recent research project entitled Practical Strategies for Pro-Poor Tourism that has reviewed six case studies of pro-poor tourism (PPT) interventions in Africa, Asia and Latin America. The project aimed to identify practical strategies that make tourism work for the poor. The conclusion drawn from the case studies is that PPT strategies can influence tourism at the margin to expand opportunities and benefits for the poor. The case studies are available on the site.
