Integrating Disaster Risk Management into Urban Management promotes the adoption of a DRM approach to urban management in order to both protect urban development from the impacts of natural hazards and prevent future urban development from creating new risks or exacerbating existing risk.
This handbook addresses DRM practitioners who sit within a municipal or local unit of the National Disaster Management Agency and are responsible for managing disaster risk in the urban area; or a municipal line department (e.g. housing, transport and environment) and are designated as the focal point for DRM.
