The Technical Services Division of ADPC (TSD) is involved in matching specialist expertise with the needs of disaster and development oriented organisations in the Asia and Pacific regions.

TSD maintains regular contact with users of expertise and maintains a database of highly reputed disaster management experts. These consultants come from many parts of the world, with a concentration on the Asian region.

The Center has provided its services in a variety of activities encompassing the field of post-disaster assessment, mitigation practice, and the planning of immediate relief response and subsequent rehabilitation activities, formulating national disaster management policy, building capacity of the disaster management institutions, and program design for comprehensive disaster management.

Main services and activities

• organizes and leads programming missions to assist organisations in developing new programs;
• conducts independent review of ongoing and completed disaster management programs;
• assists in planning and managing regional and country based disaster related training programs and seminars;
• assists in planning and managing country based prevention-mitigation-preparedness programs;
• renders expertise in post disaster assessment and response and recovery planning;
• conducts research and write case studies;
• assists ADPC alumni with information and linkages;
• maintains a database of experts and specialists in all aspects of disaster management.
