Report on the Visit of the Delegation of the Shanghai Municipal Civil Defense Office

A delegation consisting of 7 officials from the Shanghai Municipal Civil Defense Office (SCDO), P.R.China and its sub-units visited ADPC from 25 to 30 October 2003.

Dr. Suvit Yodmani, Executive Director of ADPC warmly welcomed the delegation. In his welcome speech, he expressed that ADPC would continue to do its best to be of service to China. The Head of the delegation, Mr. Shen Deyao, Deputy Director General of SCDO also made a warm remark on the Opening Ceremony to express their keen interest on ADPC and its services.

During ADPC’s presentations, the Chinese Officials expressed interest in ADPC’s training courses, especially the Collapsed Structure Search & Rescue Course (CSSRC). This course provides search and rescue personnel with the knowledge and skills necessary to search for stabilize, and extricate victims trapped in collapsed structures using the safest and most appropriate procedure. Under the guidance of ADPC’s Advisor, Manager and Staff, the delegation made a two-day field visits on disaster management facility and organizations in Thailand. The officials visited Pa Sak Cholsit Dam, one of the Thai King's projects, Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation of the Ministry of Interior, Bangkok Metropolitan Authority, Bangkok Police Fire Brigade and the Chemical Training Center of the Port Authority of Thailand of the Ministry of Transport, etc. These visits impressed the delegates very much.
