Report from the national consultation to strengthen business resilience in Thailand

As part of its efforts to build the resilience of the private sector to natural hazards, Asian Disaster Preparedness Center (ADPC) organized a national consultation on business resilience in Thailand on 8 — 9 October 2014. The report from the high-level consultation has now been published.

The consultation was organized to provide business owners with an opportunity to learn from global best practices in business continuity.

ADPC has been working with The Office of Small and Medium Enterprises Promotion (OSMEP) of the Royal Thai Government in encouraging the private sector and especially small and medium enterprises (SMEs) to embed disaster risk reduction into their core business activities. The report from the national consultation summarizes the presentations of speakers including Mr. Pornpoth Penpas, Deputy Director-General of the Department of Disaster Prevention and Mitigation (DDPM) of Thailand, Dr. Wimonkan Kosumas, Acting Director-General, OSMEP, H.E. Mr. Reuben Levermore, Ambassador of New Zealand to Thailand, Dr. Peer Gebauer, Deputy Head of Mission and Head of the Economic and Commercial Department of the German Embassy, Mr. Cherdkiat Atthakor, Deputy Director-General of the Department of International Organizations of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and Mr. Shane Wright, Executive Director of ADPC.
