ADPC to launch training programmes for the Joint Crisis Coordination Center (JCC) of Kurdistan, Iraq

With support from United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Asian Disaster Preparedness (ADPC) will build the capacity of the Joint Crisis Coordination Centre (JCC), Kurdistan, Iraq, in disaster and crisis management.

The details of the capacity building program were discussed during a consultation on 25 – 28 August held in Erbil, Kurdistan, Iraq between JCC, ADPC and UNDP. Mr. Hoshang Mohamed Abdulrahman, Director General of JCC, Mr. Aslam Perwaiz, Deputy Executive Director of ADPC, Dr. Sunil Prashar, ADPC’s Project Officer, alongside representatives from UNDP discussed the inception of a tailored training programme. The training design, needs assessment, and monitoring & evaluation mechanism were discussed in details.

Eight training workshop will be organized for the key staff of JCC during October and November. The courses will focus on four thematic areas within the field of disaster and crisis management: information management; analysis and reporting; crisis and recovery needs assessment; disaster and crisis response planning; and crisis and recovery coordination. Proceeding the implementation phase, ADPC will continue to conduct monitoring and evaluation to oversee course outcomes and impact.

ADPC, with support from UNDP, will provide technical and administrative support in implementing the training programme.
