ADPC welcomed 48 fire officers, on 14 August, from the Philippines Public Safety College, National Fire Training Institute (PPSC-NFTI). The fire fighters learned about ADPC's disaster preparedness in the Philippines.
As a charter-member country, the Philippines has a longstanding association with ADPC. The delegation was briefed on ADPC's work in the region including the Community Action for Disaster Response (CADRE) course that was also introduced in the Philippines in 1998, with support from USAID. The CADRE initiative focuses on equipping community responders with the basic skills necessary for responding to disasters in their communities.
